Update To Odor In Water

Testing shows all levels are within limits and the water is safe.

CPWA recently completed maintenance on the water plant, raw water wells, and specific valves within the system. That work can cause reverse flows in the mains and stir up the water. A quick deep freeze can also slow the precipitation of iron from the water and contribute to odor concerns.

Current reports have been specifically related to hot or warm water. Hot water tanks need time to turn over and receive fresh water, and heating water changes its chemistry, which can cause different odors, tastes, and other aesthetic concerns.

If you are returning from vacation and observe a taste or odor issue, flush the hot water to renew the water in the tank. This can be accomplished through normal water use for a period of time.

Thank you for your patience,
CPWA
